It has been a pleasant evening
sipped from fine-cut crystal
tasted from gleaming silver
The rain falls gently
in the dark outside

Tonight the tree which stands
between the streetlight and our eyes
Grows in branch circles
Its hoops hung with raindrops
Its heart a blurred lamp

We see that what we are doing
is no longer enough
